Leukaemia diagnosis a catalyst for charity

WHEN Christine Van Rysingen, of Wool Bay, was diagnosed with leukaemia seven years ago, rather than dwell on her diagnosis, she used it as a catalyst to give back to the community.

Chris and husband Peter still set off on their intended caravan holiday around Australia, and Chris knitted beanies and scarves the whole way along.

She put signs out wherever they stopped and sold the items to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
