Stranded whale dies

A BLUE whale was stranded on a remote beach at Point Davenport Conser­vation Park, near Foul Bay, last week.

Department of Environ­ment, Water and Natural Resources staff attended the scene and found the whale, measuring almost 15 metres, was emaciated with extensive blistering, clearly sick and beyond rescue.

“Staff at the scene did all they could to make the whale comfortable but unfortunately the animal passed away early on Saturday afternoon,” a spokesperson said.
