Transfers driving patients mad

TRANSFERRING country hospital patients to Adelaide continues to be problematic with a Kadina couple recently driving themselves after becoming frustrated trying to organise an ambulance.

Veronica Paule required a transfer from Wallaroo hospital to St Andrew’s for a medical procedure late last month.

A bed was available but the ambulance provider wanted to see if Mrs Paule’s private health insurer would cover the costs, causing delay.
