Pro snapper catches cut, season opens

SNAPPER season opening coincided with big cuts to commercial catch limits last Thursday, December 15.

Professional fishers are now restricted to taking 200kg in Spencer Gulf and 350kg in Gulf St Vincent daily, both down from 500kg.

This brings commercial fishing quotas much closer to limits applied to recreational fishers, who can take home more than 130kg of snapper if they have a good day, even with the new boat limits.
