Yorketown airstrip to get major upgrade

YORKETOWN airstrip will be upgraded after a successful application by Yorke Peninsula Council for funding through the federal government’s remote airstrip upgrade program.

Total cost of the project is $202,000, with council contributing $101,000.

Last year, it was revealed patients from Yorketown hospital were transferred by road to the Minlaton airstrip for transport by the Royal Flying Doctor Service five times.
