Renewable energy debate heats up

A PLAN by the state Liberals to scrap South Australia’s 50 per cent renewable energy target if elected next year has drawn fire from Mini­ster for Energy Tom Koutsantonis and Con­servation Council SA.

Mr Koutsantonis labelled the Liberal plan dangerous, both for investment and the stability of the electricity grid.

“This announcement means a Liberal government would kill any prospect of solar thermal in Port Augusta – and may even mean current renewable projects could be switched off,” he said.
