Baler fire near Paskeville

PROMPT response from local CFS crews and neighbouring farmers meant a fire on a property between Paskeville and Melton was quickly contained on Friday, January 5.

The fire started when a bearing in a baler overheated; with the temperature at 37 degrees celcius, surrounding stubble quickly ignited.

CFS Northern Yorke Peninsula deputy group officer Malcolm McDonald said if not for quick response from CFS crews and assistance from neighbours with farm firefighting units, the outcome could have been a lot worse.
