Residents worry as fire burns just metres from homes

CURRAMULKA residents were woken by frightening alerts to a fire burning close to town in the early hours of Saturday, January 6.

The scrub plantation area maintained by Curramulka Primary School near the corner of North Terrace and Mickey Flat Road had caught fire at about 1am, and CFS crews rushed to the scene.

“It was burning very close to town, only one road width away from houses,” CFS Southern Yorke group officer Steve Cornwell said.
