Councils to be hit by recycling increases

LOCAL councils will be hit hard by the increase in cost to dispose of recyclables.

Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority has notified councils the cost of disposing of recyclables will jump by 185 per cent, from $16 per tonne to $45 per tonne from April.

The authority has said the increase is due to the Chinese government’s policy to restrict the importation of recyclables.
