LOCAL oyster growers are reconsidering the future of the industry in the wake of the Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome outbreak two years ago.
An immediate importation ban was placed on all live oysters from hatcheries in Tasmania after the outbreak of POMS there in February 2016.
This was a huge hit to the South Australian industry with 80 per cent of its oyster spat coming from the island state.
