State government abolishes rubble royalties tax

THE Local Government As­sociation of South Australia has welcomed the state government’s plans to abolish the rubble royalties tax.

However, LGA president Councillor Sue Clearihan said the government had still largely failed to honour a pre-election commitment to stop cost shifting to councils with its recent budget.

“(The) budget is a contradiction to the government’s claims they want to reduce council rates, and ease the cost of living,” Cr Clearihan said.
