Your View: Halloween night

CONGRATULATIONS to the organisers of the Halloween night at Minlaton on October 31.

Adults were asked to register at the bakery to agree to be at a safe house where children could call in. They were issued with an orange and a black balloon to place at the front of the house and children were told they could access these places.

More than 100 children assembled outside the bakery between 5.30pm and 6pm to embark on their exciting journey around the town. Many of them were in fancy dress.

I perched myself on the front verandah of my unit with a bucket of lollies, bars, et cetera, and waited. Children were invited to choose two items from the bucket and I was pleasantly surprised at the behaviour and manners displayed. The younger ones (probably around 3-4 years old) were helped by the older children who were very caring and considerate. Costumes were interesting and good fun.

May this yearly event continue to be held. It was a pleasure to be part it.
