Your View: Here comes the sun

IN response to Kym Bray’s letter (YPCT 21-11-17), Mr Bray begins his letter “Once again, Chris Hunter gives his narrow-minded views that we must embrace renewable power (YPCT 31-10-17).”

I would like to draw Mr Bray’s attention to the remarks recently made by Sanjeev Gupta, owner of the Whyalla Steel Works as reported by the ABC: “We think, eventually, renewable power is cheaper than fossil fuel and we want to participate in that transition.”

The reality is that Zen Energy, of which Mr Gupta has controlling interests, is planning to invest $700million in Whyalla for the generation of solar, battery storage and pumped hydro energy.

I would say Mr Gupta, like Premier Jay Weatherill, is on the right track, in fact visionary.

They are to be applauded; jobs, jobs, jobs, and ultimately lower power prices – without the pollution!

Chris Hunter, Moonta
