Your View: Stansbury Anzac Day

STANSBURY RSL sub-branch made a recent addition to its Anzac Day dawn service.

This year we were honoured to have the great-granddaughter of Lawrence “Rusty” and Jess Martin, Ella Bishop, sing Amazing Grace at the service and also at the Anzac Day service held at Eldercare Elanora Stansbury later in the day. How proud would Rusty and Jess have been?

This year we have seen an added interest by the general public in placing Australian flags on the graves of the returned servicemen and women in the Stansbury Cemetery, by the Stansbury Primary School children. This is done each year before Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.

It was fantastic to see more family members now proudly wearing their family and/or relatives’ war medals on Anzac Day.

The sub-branch also sincerely thanks all those who supported our Anzac Day breakfast.

Reg Ricketts, president,
Stansbury RSL sub-branch
