Your View: Cruise visitors

I DON’T want to sound like a knocker, but up to 1200 people on a cruise ship docking at Wallaroo. Really? What are they going to see or do? A dozen buses to show them the old smelter or the attractions of Moonta Mines, or will they pour into Wallaroo Foodland, play the pokies at the Coopers Alehouse or the Anglers Inn?

Where will they spend money? Buy a “been there — done that — I’ve been to Wallaroo”

T-shirts? Maybe a couple of Cornish pasties?

San Francisco, Fiji, New York it ain’t.

I don’t know how long the ship will be here, but if I owned a business in Wallaroo, I would not spend too much money in anticipation of a windfall.

Peter Kraack, Moonta
