Your View: Bay Road

I HAVE lived on Bay Road since 1982, a very busy road even more so in school and Christmas holiday times.

Some months prior and during Christmas last year an illuminated sign was erected on the Hughes Avenue corner stating Bay Road was to be upgraded over the next two years — 12 months of consultation and planning, and 12 months of construction.

The consultation part of this project has amounted to zero, but I did see some surveyors one day.

My suggestions are these: a bike track similar to Port Hughes Road, a turn-right lane for vehicles turning right on to Haylock Road from Bay Road, and a turn-right lane for vehicles turning right into Milne Terrace from Bay Road.

These junctions cause the most problems in heavy traffic in busy times. The Haylock Road one has caused quite a number of collisions in the past 35 years.

Is this project 12 months behind schedule? Or have the funds been spent in Kadina?
