Linke wins the Gawler Derby

Dumb, bad-gaited but with a big motor is Kadina trainer Tyson Linke’s description of promising 3-year-old The Quick Shadow.

The Quick Shadow showed his courage, refusing to give in to win the 2018 Valley Enterprises Gawler Derby (2230m) at Globe Derby Park on Saturday, delighting owner Ian Shephard, who bred the gelding in partnership with his late wife Rose.

Shephard, who lived for some time in Gawler, was emotional about winning the club’s derby with his promising pacer.
