Surprises galore in the opening round

REPORTER: "Half-back Flanker"

Well, I wasn’t expecting that.

After tipping Kadina by a goal I caught a glimpse at the Bloods’ team sheet and it made my eyes water. Even still, I thought the young Bloods would at least front up against Moonta –  which must surely now be the premiership favourite, although we said the same thing this time last year. Spoiler alert: The young Bloods did not front up.

It was a Demon demolition from quarter time onward. Moonta had a handful of unproven players in its side as well, and they looked like they should be in the AFL compared with some of their opponents. The good news for Kadina is the season is still young. The bad news? Next week Luke Driver is getting married so that should knock out a handful of the most experienced A graders. After Saturday’s effort I’d rather be at a wedding as well.
