A NEW chapter has begun at Earle Signs with founder Brian Earle handing over the baton to his former work experience kid turned employee, Mitchell Miller, and wife Lauren.

Brian, a skilled signwriter, built the firm from the ground up by providing a reliable, invaluable service to businesses and sporting clubs across Yorke Peninsula and beyond.

He has also contributed to training the next generation of workers in Kadina.

Mitchell says he is proud to have played a part in the Earle Signs story, and even prouder to now be taking the business to the next level in his new role.

“At every single stage of the job, I can say Brian has taught me everything I know,” Mitchell says.

“It’s a little bit sentimental because he’s built the next generation in a way and it’s not like I’m a stranger coming in to buy the business from him.

“This is Brian’s legacy and I definitely think he is proud to pass it over to me, and to watch what I can achieve.”

Despite work keeping him busy, Mitchell says he is eager to follow in Brian’s footsteps and pay it forward by soon taking on a new apprentice.

“I need some help and I definitely need to pass the knowledge on in some shape or form,” he says.

In the meantime, Earle Signs has truly become a family business with Lauren taking on multiple administration roles, so Mitchell can focus on creating and keeping up with the high demand.

The Millers hope their daughter, Lilah, will also join the family business one day but, for now, she is small enough to rummage through to the backs of cupboards, just as Brian’s kids did when they were little.

Although Mitchell and Lauren have taken over the business, you may not have seen the last of Brian yet.

“Brian said that, after his caravan trip, he is happy to come work for me,” Mitchell says.

“So I’ll be his boss instead of him being mine, so maybe I can teach him some new tricks.”
