DEDICATED audiometrists Jodie Herbert and Jane Chapman are transforming lives through their commitment to improving hearing health.
Both work for YP Audiology, where they are pivotal members of the Yorke Peninsula community, helping individuals reconnect with the world around them.
Jane began her journey in 1996 as a receptionist at a hearing clinic.
“I was captivated by the stories of people living with hearing loss,” she says.
“It made me want to be part of their journey toward better hearing.”
After years of study and training, she became a qualified audiometrist with a Diploma of Hearing Device Prescription and Evaluation.
Jodie has worked with YP Audiology for eight years, starting in the front office before qualifying as an audiometrist two years ago.
Her passion shines through as she visits local nursing homes to consult with clients.
“Bringing music and conversation back into the lives of residents who feel forgotten is so fulfilling,” she says.
“I see the transformative power of sound every day — people reconnecting with their grandchildren’s voices or enjoying their favorite songs again.”
Hearing loss is increasingly common, currently affecting one in six Australians, with that number expected to rise to one in four by 2050.
Jane and Jodie also assist those with noise-induced hearing loss and guide them through claims with ReturnToWorkSA.
“We are specifically trained in hearing assessments, evaluations, fitting and rehabilitation of hearing aids and believe it’s important for everyone over the age of 50 to prioritise their hearing health,” Jane says.
“There are many online resources for families dealing with hearing impairment, and a great first step is to schedule a comprehensive hearing assessment.”
Through their commitment and care, Jane and Jodie enhance the lives of their clients and foster a more connected community, reminding everyone that a clearer world is just a hearing test away.
