COTA SA, the state’s peak body for 700,000 South Australians aged 50 plus, is hosting a community forum next week for older people on Yorke Peninsula.

Guests at the free forum, to be held at the Moonta Golf Club on Thursday 28 November, will hear from COTA SA Chief Executive Miranda Starke about all the initiatives that COTA SA is advocating for on behalf of older people living in regional South Australia.

Miranda says there are a number of challenges to be addressed to enable older people to live well in regional South Australia.

“Older South Australians tell us that the top issues of concern to them at the moment are cost-of-living, access to healthcare and the aged care system,” she says.

“We also know from listening to older people on YP that transport is one of their major challenges and concerns, particularly when accessing health services locally and in Adelaide, or getting around their community.

“We’d like to hear more about your experiences and your ideas about what would improve this situation for you and your community.

“As one of our state’s oldest regions, we are committed to listening to older people on Yorke Peninsula.

“We’d love for as many people as possible, from all parts of the YP, to join us for this conversation about ageing in the region.

“This will ensure that our future advocacy efforts on behalf of older people on YP are meaningful and relevant.”
