Owner and principal solicitor Kylie Pligl graduated from her Degree/GDLP in 2012 and thereafter obtained her Masters in Legal Practice from the Australian National University in 2014.
Kylie’s experiences as both a Magistrates and Coroners Clerk, as well as the Yorke Peninsula and Point Pearce Community Housing Officer for Housing SA and in private legal firms in Adelaide have helped shaped her career.
“I’ve also worked for the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement, travelling and representing clients in various courts over the state including as far as Coober Pedy and the APY Lands,” she said.
“I opened my own practice in Owen Terrace, Wallaroo, in 2017, and am assisted by my secretary staff and graduate law clerk.”
In 2020, Kylie was appointed as a SACAT member for the South Australian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal in the Housing Sector.
Kylie’s main area of law and passion is criminal law, she has been admitted to the High Court of Australia.
“I do my own barrister or counsel work and will run your trial for you, so I will look after you from the commencement of your case until the completion,” Kylie said.
“I will take on clients with very minor matters to very serious matters and can additionally guide my clients through the local Narungga Sentencing Court in Maitland, whereby the court sits with a Magistrate and Aboriginal Elders.
“We have also installed an AVL system at our practice to reduce court travel time.
“It’s about making it easier for our clients so they are often not required to travel to court and can appear from our office.”
KP Lawyers Wallaroo is available at all times for police arrests and bail applications for those in custody who require the services of a criminal lawyer.
“The firm takes on clients funded by the Legal Services Commission and we are passionate about all persons within the justice system being able to have access to a lawyer whether or not they have the financial means,” Kylie said.
“We do also practice in other areas of law including family law (divorce, financial binding agreements, children’s matters, property separation) and civil matters (debt recovery, personal injury, drafting of wills and advance care directives).
“Pensioner rates are offered for these services for those on lower incomes.
