PLANNED OUTAGE BY ELECTRANET

ElectraNet has announced that an urgent outage is required on Yorke Peninsula.

This outage will occur between midnight and 4am on Sunday, April 13.

The outage is required to allow ElectraNet to undertake critical works on the transmission network, an ElectraNet spokesperson said.

“The timing of the outage proactively minimises any inconvenience and mitigates the risk of further outages being required," they said.

ElectraNet has said this is happening now due to extended dry conditions and an accumulation of dust and salt on the transmission network, known as insulator pollution.

Despite maintaining the pollution and washing assets in recent weeks, pollution levels have continued to increase, so an outage has been planned to wash the Hummocks substation again.

Power needs to be off to complete the washing works at the Hummmocks substation.

ElectraNet has said they regret the disruption experienced at the last power outage on March 14, and that extensive washing of the affected transmission lines and Hummocks substation have been completed since.
