Major milestone for Aitchison Plumbing Services
4 min read

LOCATED in Warooka, Aitchison Plumbing Services has been a proud family-owned and operated business on Yorke Peninsula for the past 20 years.

Owners Mark and Julie Aitchison, along with sons Darcy and Fletcher, have come a long way and are proud of their achievements, they said.

“We registered the business in March 2004,” Mark and Julie said.

“In our 20 years of business we have signed up 14 apprentices, 10 of whom finished their apprenticeships through us at Aitchison Plumbing Services.

“We have also employed three qualified tradesmen for periods of time in those 20 years.

“We purchased our commercial shed in the main street of Warooka around 2010, and we built and project managed the building of our new offices, toilets and kitchen with the help of Johnny Lauber Construction.

“In this short time, with an effective, driven team, including staff, contractors and suppliers, business is the most profitable it has ever been and moving forward in leaps and bounds.”

Aitchison Plumbing Services is a well-established family business.

“We have qualified, licensed plumbers and gasfitters, and hold wastewater management qualifications,” they said.

“We have a well-known reputation in supporting the community now and across our entire 20 years.

“Our staff are prompt, professional and reliable and able to cater for a variety of projects.”

Mark started in the plumbing industry 30 years ago.

Late in 1992, Mark started his plumbing apprenticeship with a one-man operator working out of Salisbury, and moved to Adelaide from Mundoora.

He was signed out of his apprenticeship early, in early 1996, but he had finished his TAFE studies and was able to gain his trade certificate.

In 1996, Mark and friend Shane Fraser started MAIT Plumbing Services in Clare; Shane is still operating MAIT to this day.

“I studied to obtain my contractors master plumbers licence and contractors gas fitting licence, I then sold my half of MAIT Plumbing Services to Shane, before Julie won a teaching job in Warooka,” Mark said.

“We moved to Yorketown in 2004 and the rest is history.”

Celebrating 20 years in business

AITCHISON Plumbing Services celebrated its 20-year milestone at Salt Food and Events on Friday, April 26.

Approximately 100 people attended, including friends, family, past and former employees, and business acquaintances.

These included Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey, who spoke about the importance of small businesses in regional South Australia, along with representatives from the Masters Plumbers Association.

In honouring 20 years of achievement, Julie and Mark expressed a big thank you to all who attended and to those who were not able to make it who had been instrumental in their journey.

“Our success story is a testament to the power of perseverance, creativity and teamwork,” Mark and Julie said.

“We started with a simple idea — one van and a plumber and, today, we stand tall, having transformed into a successful, fully licensed local plumbing and gas fitting business and touched countless projects across southern Yorke Peninsula.

“As Aitchison Plumbing Services celebrates this significant milestone, we also look towards the future with optimism and ambition.

“The company remains steadfast in its commitment to innovation, professional, reliable service, poised to lead the way into the next era of growth and progress.”
