FARMERS and businesses have a once-only opportunity to help make a unique new venue become a reality at the Yorke Peninsula Field Days site at Paskeville.

Sponsorships are now available until February 28 to support the construction of a function centre for seminars, conferences, training sessions and vehicle equipment launches, as well as private events such as weddings and birthdays.

The new building will be built next to the recently completed office complex at the field days site in the matching style of round, metal silos to reflect Yorke Peninsula’s successful grain growing industry.

The complex is located facing the Copper Coast Highway, giving it prominence for traffic to and from Adelaide and the region, and the office will be officially opened on April 4.

Sponsors of the function centre will receive a package of benefits to match the level of sponsorship, including acknowledgement at the biennial YP Field Days, (to be held from Tuesday, September 30 to Thursday, October 2), tickets to the field days, and invitations to the official opening of the new office.

YPFD president Greg Stevens said the function centre would seat 121 people and enable the field days site to be utilised year-round.

“Your generous and tax-deductible support will help us create a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for information, education and networking,” he said.

“We are aiming to create a facility with the latest audio-visual technology, so that clients can just come in and hook up to run their conferences and exhibitions.

“We also have plenty of space to display and drive around large farm equipment and vehicles, so the new conference centre and our central location within SA’s grain growing areas, would make our field days site ideal for equipment launches.

“As word gets out, more and more industry groups will come here for their training days and exhibitions and the function centre could also make the site a focus for community activities.”

YPFD vice-president Rachael Ayles said field days representatives had met with the Yorke and Mid North Regional Development Association about the potential impact of the function centre.

“The centre could bring new money into the area and a new client base and new visitors,” she said.

“Both Yorke Peninsula Council and Copper Coast Council are very much tourism-based and this development would support that.

“The function centre will showcase Yorke Peninsula and the field days and provide a lasting legacy for generations to come.”

The sponsorship levels are: Lentil Level - $10,000 or more; Canola - $5000 or more; Wheat - $2500 or more; Barley - $1000 or more.
