New carpets, new paint, plus major refurbishments and a new build to come are creating an air of excitement at Parkview Nursing Home in Moonta.

Parkview general manager Michael Powell said he was delighted to announce the completion of stage 1 of a major refurbishment project.

“The facility has undergone a transformation with new carpets and fresh coats of paint throughout the building,” he said.

“The refurbishment project aimed to create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

“The new carpets and paint colours have brightened up the common areas and hallways, providing a more cheerful and uplifting atmosphere.

“The improvements have added a spring freshness to the facility, and we believe this will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of our residents.”

Each of the five wings at Parkview has been painted a different colour, to help residents, especially people who have vision impairment or who are living with dementia, find their way.

Mr Powell said stage 2 would include construction of nine new residential rooms to meet demand and major refurbishments of two of the home’s four dining rooms.

One of the upgraded dining rooms will have a kitchenette to enable residents to make their own tea, coffee and snacks.

Mr Powell said work on stage 2 was expected to start in January and be finished by December 2025.

Parkview residents Sheila and Albert Thrussell said they were thrilled with the results of the refurbishment so far.

“The new paint colours and carpets have made a huge difference in the overall appearance and feel of the home, and we are looking forward to seeing stage 2,” they said.

Parkview currently has 72 residential rooms, including four larger rooms for couples, and each room has an ensuite.

Parkview is run by Moonta Health and Aged Care Service, a community-owned, not-for-profit service.
